What decides the specification
- 01High inrush, short dutySpring charging mechanisms demand a large starting torque for a few seconds, then stand idle for hours. A motor sized for continuous duty is oversized, while an undersized unit overheats on repeated operations.
- 02Decades of standby lifeSwitchgear is specified for a 30-year service life with very few operations. Lubricants, brush systems and insulation must survive long idle periods without degradation.
- 03Dielectric and safety constraintsDrives sit close to live busbars, so insulation class, creepage distances and hi-pot performance are part of the motor specification, not an afterthought.

How the drive is engineered for switchgear
S-01
Duty-cycle-matched PMDC drives
We size the PMDC and universal switchgear range — including the 64ZY and HDZ series — against the actual spring charging curve, matching the motor to the short-time S2 duty of the operating mechanism.
S-02
Controlled closing with servo drives
Where closing speed must be programmable, a YF-DRV220 servo drive with position feedback gives repeatable operating times and records every operation for condition monitoring.
S-03
Insulation built to panel standards
Class F windings, hi-pot testing at 2,500 V AC and long-life brush systems are standard, with materials selected for the temperature class of the enclosure.
